Anne Abbott, MPP, will present Investigating System Level Approaches to Increasing Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates at the 2016 American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 1st.

The presentation will discuss preliminary findings from the first year of a statewide intervention to increase colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates in Iowa. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across Iowa have partnered with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Iowa Primary Care Association, and the American Cancer Society to implement system-level approaches aimed at improving CRC screening rates. Anne’s research examines facilitators and barriers to implementing evidence-based interventions (EBIs), providing professional development opportunities for health care providers, tracking data, and building cross-sector partnerships to achieve better outcomes in FQHCs.
